Hoe's Ferry Colonel Richard Hooes ran a ferry from Matthias Point Virginia shore to Port Tobacco
and to Lower Cedar Point. Matthias Point is opposite the mouth of the Port Tobacco River.
Lower Cedar Point is near Morgantown. This is about a mile and a half from Wayside,
site of Christ Church (William and Mary Parish).


Transcript
not remember. He cannot say positively that the facts before stated occ-
ured in the order stated. He served faithfully the term of three years.
& obtained a written discharge, but by whom signed he does not
recollect - but he thinks it was signed by Colo Ramsey. Was discharged
at Kimble Farms he believes in the spring of 1780. which discharge
has long since been lost but contained on the back a certificate of the amount
due him for wages & rations & which he sold soon after for a small
sum.
He served but one term of enlistment. Resided on the Potomac near Hoe's Ferry
Charles County Maryland, when he enlisted & for several years afterward.
The following officers he recollects - Genl Smallwood of Port Tobacco - Colo Johnny
Stone of same place, Capt. Starret of same county, afterwards Major.
Capt. Gaiter, of same county he believes, Lieut. Breen of same county (under
whom declarent enlisted)
He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity, except
the present & he declares that his name is not on the pension roll of any agency
in any state.

aforesaid at said Greenup County
Horatio Cattlett, J. P.
Greenup Cty. Ky
and I the said Horatio Cattlett, Justice of the peace aforesaid of said
county court do hereby declare my opinion that the above named Charles
Rigg the applicant aforesaid was a revolutionary Soldier & served as he states
and I do further certify that in my opinion the said applicant can-
not from age & bodily infirmity attend the court.
